Three masked burglars used an angle grinder to break into the Budgens store on Peachcroft Road.
It happened between 4.35am and 4.40am on Monday (10/6), when a white Mercedes estate, with a three-quarter black sun roof and black alloy wheel, arrived outside the shop.
Three people got out of the car and used gas to try and access the site's ATM machine.
They then broke into the shop, but left empty handed.
All three offenders were wearing dark coloured clothing and dark face coverings.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Steph Barras-Thompson, of Force CID based at Abingdon police station, said: "We are releasing this footage as we hope that someone will recognise the distinctive vehicle that is shown.
"I am urging anybody who has any information relating to this incident, or who recognises the vehicle and who may have been driving it, to contact the 24-hour non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 43190173888.
"Alternatively, you can call the independent charity anonymously on 0800 555 111 or make a report online.
"We are currently keeping an open mind as to whether this is linked to other burglaries in the Thames Valley, but hope that the release of this footage will assist us in our investigation."
