Thame Rotary fundraising appeal: take on Thame & Villages 21 for 21 challenge

Rotary Club of Thame & District is renewing its appeal to the public to take on the fun and fundraising virtual real challenge: 21 for 21. The challenge can now be taken any time till the end of the Rotary year which ends on the 30th June. With the COVID-19 restrictions, Thame & District Rotary has been unable to organise the popular Thame Swimathon.

The teams can choose their favourite charity. Thame Rotary will then allocate 50% of the funds towards the preferred charity and 50% towards local charities supported by the club.

In 2021, the 21st year of the 21st Century, it is all about NUMBER 21…

The goal is to achieve a #21 milestone. So here comes the challenge:
- run or walk 21 miles - or 21k steps – or 21 laps in the garden – or 21,000 steps on your Fitbit - in your own flat or garden or around your town or village or out and about.
- with the warmer weather, people can also wash 21 cars or find 21 Easter eggs.
- when and how long? in your own time as one wishes the target to be. You can complete the challenge in as many days as you like. You can repeat the challenge as many times as you like.

What will we offer you?
• A Certificate of Participation from Thame & District Rotary
• We will be sharing your fundraising page on our and our website
• We will share your photos or videos you want to share with us further on our and our website
• We will include your stories you may wish to share with us into our press releases sent to the local media on a regular basis
• And a huge THANK YOU! for having fun and raising funds for good causes!

When can I take my challenge?

The virtual campaign will be open for entries till the end of June 2021. Take as much time as you like to complete the challenge. If it will take you days to complete your target - let it be! Feel free to take it again a few times.

Which charities can I support?

The funds raised will go towards Thame & District Rotary local charities of 2020-2021: Thomley, Red Kite Family Centre Thame-Chinnor and Thame Young Carers. Participants have also the option to allocate 50% of their fundraising effort to their preferred UK charity.

There is a list of 8 things the participants will need to do:
1. Start your fundraising page on the Thame & Villages 21 for 21 page hosted by Virgin Money Giving. Go to: and click on the “Start Fundraising” button.
2. Decide what to do: 21 laps in your garden or 21k run or an easy walk in Thame, Chinnor or wherever in the world you may be.
3. Decide – are you going to do this as an individual or as a team? Please take into account that you will be unable to be close physically to your team due to the COVID-19 restrictions in the area you live.
4. Ask your friends and family if they would like to sponsor you with a donation.
5. If you have a favourite UK charity, you will need to advise us so that 50% of what you raise is allocated to them. Otherwise, the money raised will go towards Rotary’s preferred charities.
6. Let the world know what you are doing through social media, and we will be supporting you by asking members of the public to donate towards fundraising page.
7. During the event take pictures or videos and share them with us on and we will share them further with the social media and include them in our periodical press releases.
8. Read more about our event on as we will publish updates.

What will your fundraising buy for local charities?
• £10 could go towards arts supplies for Thomley to carry out art activities
• £20 could buy supplies towards Thomley for cooking
• £50 could cover a fun fake snow session at Thomley
• £100 could purchase a new bike outdoor field at Thomley.
